Algeria: Closure of the EU-funded PAJE programme in Algiers
The PAJE-Programme (Support for Youth Employment) had its closing workshop on the 24th of September 2019 in Algiers, gathering the 4 the programme implementation projects (PIU, MS1, MS2 and MS-COM) and all relevant stakeholders in Algeria, to present the accomplishments and make recommendations for the future.
PEM CONSULT in collaboration with GIZ international Services als Leader of the consortium, implemented the MS2 project, in support to the structuring of the social, solidary and innovative economy, and to the development of youth entrepreneurship from 01/2016 to 09/2019.
The workshop was opened by the Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union to Algeria, Mr John O'Rourke, who described the PAJE programm as an ambitious and emblematic programme of cooperation between the European Union and Algeria. Emblematic, for historical reasons: The European Union has been supporting Algeria's national policy on employability, training and employment for many years.
Also emblematic by the choice of the four pilot wilayas where it has been deployed: Annaba, Bechar, Khenchela and Oran where more than 6500 young Algerians have been able to benefit from the services, support and guidance provided.
The MS2 project contributed to
- the development of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE), which created new activities and jobs; in particular through collective projects (cooperatives);
- the creation of a local service and reinforced support, in each pilot wilaya with the experimental platform CAP Jeunesse, promoting the construction of successful entrepreneurial projects (Entrepreneurship Service).
