Liberia is home to around 6.6 million hectares of tropical forest, as reported by the Liberia National Forest Inventory in 2019. This forest covers about 43% of  the remaining West African Upper Guinea forest, stretching from Guinea to Togo. Thus, this biome of Guinean humid forest constitutes one of 34 “biodiversity hotspots” in the world. This landscape is made up of the “Parc National de Taï” (PNT) together with the adjoining Forêts Classées of Cavally, Goin-Débé and Haute Dodo on the Ivorian side and the Sapo National Park  (SNP) and Grebo Krahn National Park (GKNP) on the Liberian side.

The "Conservation of Biodiversity in the Taï-Grebo-Sapo-Rainforest Complex" is a transnational initiative that seeks to sustainably conserve the Upper Guinea Rainforest's last vast, contiguous, and almost pristine landscape.  The project aims at improving the FDA infrastructure to better carry out its mandate. The infrastructure that will be constructed comprises a Park Headquarter, a manager’s accommodation, 9 ranger accommodations, 3 park offices, 3 water supply systems, 3 power houses and 2 jetties.
