2nd Job Fair in The Gambia brings together jobseekers and employers

From November 25th to November 26th a Job Fair took place in Bakau in The Gambia’s capital district, Greater Banjul Area. The event that was held on the premises of the Friendship Hostel/Independence Stadium, aimed at providing opportunities to facilitate information sharing and exchange between job seekers and potential employers.

Representatives from 28 companies were present during the Job Fair, providing 450 jobs and internship opportunities to more than 900 visitors Job Fair visitors who took advantage of various services during the event such as career guidance and counselling, on-site agro-food-processing skills training, and business advisory.  

During a panel discussion, entrepreneurs shared their own career experience and highlighted the entrepreneurship idea as a promising career path leading to self-employment and own business development.

The Bakau Job Fair was the second Job Fair that was to be held as part of the GIZ project “Support to PME Advisory Centres in The Gambia regarding Employment Promotion, Career Guidance and Capacity Development”, organized and facilitated by PEM Consult in close coordination and cooperation with GIZ’s national partner, the Gambian Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment (MOTIE). A first Job Fair in Brikama was held in May 2022.
