Indonesia: Support to a new project on Green Jobs promotion

On 11th and 12th December the Kick-off Workshop for the PEM Consult assignment to conduct baseline and mapping studies to guide the new project “Green Jobs for Social Inclusion and Sustainable Transformation – GESIT” implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH took place in Jakarta, Indonesia.

GESIT is a new Indonesian-German Technical Cooperation project and is part of GIZ’s programme “Sustainable Economic Development and TVET in Indonesia” and aims to enable public and private stakeholders to inclusively promote employment in green jobs, as awareness of the impact of the transformation to a green economy on the Indonesian labour market and TVET system and approaches and instruments to promote employment in green jobs is still insufficient.

PEM’s activities will support GESIT’s startup by providing a comprehensive understanding of the current policy framework for green jobs, availability and potential growth of green jobs, especially in the manufacturing sector, skills needs for growing green jobs and existing green skills development initiatives as well as potential implementation partners and change agents, specifically from the private sector, through the implementation of 3 targeted research and mapping studies.

A particular focus of the research in the manufacturing sector lies on the skills needed in the field of sustainable mobility/e-mobility, circular economy and cross-sectoral green skills.
