The project supported public institutions in the forestry sector with regard to sustainable usage and management of forest resources by the private sector.

The project intervened on institutional and legislative levels, strengthened the forest authorities technically and provided assistance through training to private entrepreneurs and user associations.

PEM CONSULT’s responsibility in the project was to ensure the participation of the relevant stakeholders in the management of the forest resources, including the various associations of local inhabitants. In the process of the intended privatisation of a sawmill in Saclo in the north of the project region, PEM CONSULT conducted the necessary training and counselling.
