The project "Support for municipalities" is currently active in 16 municipalities in Libya and aims to strengthen the municipalities' capacity to act with regard to local economic and employment promotion, provision of basic public services and conflict reduction in the context of mixed migration flows.

The relevant action field of the project is action field 3 "Local economic and employment promotion to improve the economy, especially in employment-intensive sectors".

One of the planned instruments for municipal economic promotion is training for business start-ups and support for business start-ups. Due to the conflict situation, the Libyan projects are currently being implemented with international non-governmental organisations, UN organisations and in remote control. Capacity development measures are carried out outside the country if non-Libyan trainers are involved. The training takes place in Monastir/Tunisia.
