The project improved the capability and competitiveness of private roadwork contractors, following the privatisation of the sector.

Target groups were SMEs and their professional organisations as well as public work institutions in Cameroon.

The project activities covered:

  • Technical and management training for contractors;
  • Information channelling / improving information access for private roadwork contractors;
  • Supporting professional organisations by developing qualified member services as e.g. elaborating finance schemes, material purchase and HRD plans;
  • Developing management and steering instruments for the professional organisations to meet the demand of the small and medium roadwork contractors;
  • Improved privately organised road maintenance services contributed to sustainable economic development and social welfare in the rural areas of Cameroon.
