The programme supported the elaboration and implementation of a national decentralisation strategy in the framework of the PRSP.

The project covered the Technical Assistance component within the German Development cooperation with Cameroon in the field of "Decentralisation and local development“. It contributed to the implementation of the National Programme for Participatory Development (PNDP). The objective of the programme was: "The population of selected municipalities and their decision-makers frame self-determined their social and economic environment and contribute to the reduction of poverty”.

The programme comprised the following components:

  • Implementation of the national Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper;
  • Support to community development;
  • Implementation of the decentralisation / deconcentration strategy;
  • Harmonisation and adoption.

The German contribution covered policy and strategy advice, development of central technical administrative bodies as well as decentralised municipal administrations and associations.

The project was implemented in cooperation with AMBERO Consulting as lead firm.
