The project established and continuously supported the regionally based agricultural machinery industry primarily in the two main target provinces.

This was achieved by an integrated approach with activities at three levels:

• Manufacturer level: Adaptive re-design, training of staff, quality control, promotional and marketing support measures, market research and demand analysis;
• User level: Information and demonstration, training in operation and maintenance, sourcing of finance options, gender and environmental specific problems;
• Institutional level: Networking with regional institutions, identification and strengthening of support potential, technology sourcing.

Emphasis was put on the agro-processing sector and specifically on the area of drying and conservation, in close co-operation with European manufacturers and importers.
