The projectBaseline and mapping studies to guide the new project “Green Jobs for Social Inclusion and Sustainable Transformation” is part of GIZ’s programme “Sustainable Economic Development and TVET in Indonesia” with the overall aim to enable jobseeking or underemployed youth and young adults to participate in the economy and to finance a sustainable livelihood for themselves and their families. The project’s political partner is the Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas).

The projectaims toprovidea comprehensive understanding of the current policy framework for green jobs, availability and potential growth of green jobs, especially in the manufacturing sector, skills needs for growing green jobs and existing green skills development initiatives as well as potential implementation partners and change agents, specifically from the private sector, through the implementation of 3 targeted research and mapping studies:

  1. Study on the policy framework and policy gaps for promoting employment in green jobs
  2. Study on green jobs and skills needs in the manufacturing sector
  3. Study on initiatives related to green jobs on subnational level

A particular focus of the research in the manufacturing sector lies on the skills needed in the field of sustainable mobility/e-mobility, circular economy and cross-sectoral green skills.
