Origin of fundingDeutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Eschborn, Germany
Duration01/2014 - 08/2015

The objective of the program is: In both the public and private sector, the strategy development and implementation capacities for developing the private sector are improved.
Target groups of the project are the owners, managers and employees of privately-run small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Myanmar.

The program component concerns the “Entrepreneurship Program”, which is to provide support to public and private institutions to develop and implement entrepreneurship services for small and medium enterprises in Myanmar. The Entrepreneurship programme will be a major intervention field and an integral part of the GIZ programme “Capacity Strengthening for Private Sector Development in Myanmar” (PN.2012.2451.8-001).

It interfaces with other interventions in both components of the programme. The international and national expert team supports the establishment und implementation of services that foster entrepreneurship for start-up entrepreneurs (from idea stage to growth/expansion stage) as well as for small and medium enterprises that are in the market for several years but still face entrepreneurial and managerial difficulties.

Furthermore, the project will elaborate a comprehensive entrepreneurship concept for GIZ to be implemented in collaboration with relevant actors. It shall integrate the approach to institutionalize entrepreneurship services as has been described above. The objective of the program is that Entrepreneurship services are established and implemented by viable local service providers.
