PEM CONSULT is contracted to develop and implement the sustainable tourism development project aiming at quality products and services in the tourism and hospitality sector in Shan State, specifically for Inle Region, Taunggyi Area, Hsipaw/Lashio Area and Kyaing Tong Area.

Tourism in Myanmar and especially in Shan State is accelerating fast. There is a pressing need for professional training on quality management and service quality in tourism. Shan State has been promoted mainly as a trekking and nature destination around Inle Lake Area. Interventions are needed to diversify the product base and offer a wider range of options and activities within Shan State in order to secure and increase of tourism benefits not only for the local private sector but as well for local communities within this State.

The specific aim of this assignment is to provide training and skills improvement of stakeholders in the areas of capacity development for quality management, product development, strengthening relevant value chains, following-up sustainable management in the hospitality sector and collective leadership in Shan State in order to increase their success and long-term competitiveness in the tourism industry.

  • Training of Trainer (ToT) Program for local Tourism Consultants/Trainers;
  • Product Development and Diversity;
  • Strengthening of  Tourism-Related Supply Chains;
  • Sustainable Tourism Management of the Hospitality Sector;
  • Development of Collective Leadership Skills in Tourism.
