The project was part of the GIZ-Programme “Economic development and employment promotion” with the objective to achieve an economically stable Kosovo, where trade deficit has been eliminated, domestic products have replaced imports (import substitution) and income and employment rates have risen and are placed on a secure basis.
The overall objective of this project was to improve the competitiveness of companies of the metal sector in Kosovo.
The project provided:
- Support in developing instruments for economic promotion;
- Consulting services for businesses in opening local, regional and international markets;
- Advice and training to staff of relevant associations, institutions and chambers of commerce.
The project worked with the value-added chain approach. It established a support network in the metal sector, based on the analysis of the value-added chain. Existing associations were reinforced, bearing in mind the common interests of their members. Whenever possible, government bodies were called to help support the sector. Through initiation of a public-private dialogue, they were enlisted for the improvement of the political and legal framework conditions of small and medium-sized enterprises.
