The project enhanced the capabilities of three industrial sectors in the field of product design. Special focus on one company in each of the industries (industrial packaging of liquids industry; furniture industry; aluminium/metal industry) helped the Centre of Excellence to accumulate know-how for future design procedures. This included the establishment of systems, procedures and business processes for re-use in each of the industries, and the adoption of international best practices. Activities included:
- Meeting with Jordanian TVET Centre of Excellence Experts and with local designers;
- Visits to the participating client companies and evaluation of products in production;
- Discussion of new products and methodologies in product design;
- Supervision of the pre-selection of various design concepts for the Centre of Excellence for final selection;
- Construction of a prototype;
- Execution of three workshops/seminars on Industrial Design with emphasis on each of the three industries;
- Presentation of the correlation between design, technology, manufacturing process, international markets, branding and competitiveness;
- Support of the Design Culture;
- Analysis of the conditions that need to be satisfied in order to bring Jordanian companies in the position to take full advantage of Industrial Design;
- Final evaluation of the project with team members and the Centre of Excellence
