After a preliminary fact finding mission in Morocco, a concept for several study tours to emerging market countries was developed with the intention to offer representatives of the Ministry and of various associations of the SME sector the opportunity to gain new impulses for the process of modernisation in Morocco, based on the experiences made in other countries.

The first study tour was organised to Turkey. During this visit, special emphasis was given to the situation before the modernisation of the industry and during its implementation, as well as to the lessons learned. The participants took a closer look at the macro level (institutional, legal and political framework), at the meso level (institutions offering SME support) and at the micro level (enterprises). The main focus of this tour was on the textile and building sectors.
