In the industrial zone of Bursa, an environmental counselling centre was established with the objective of providing environmental information, advice and qualification services to SMEs. For this purpose, information was gathered, compiled and disseminated, and relations to institutions concerned were intensified and integrated into the activities of the environmental centre.

The aim of the first three-year start-up phase was to set-up institutional structures for the sustainable supply of support services in the field of an environmentally sound economic development for Turkish SMEs. The main tasks were the selection and qualification of the environmental centre's staff, the development and realisation of services and the intensification of network relationships with existing organisations.

The focus of the second project phase was the further development of services and their application, the encouragement and technical support of other Turkish chambers for the establishment of further environmental counselling capacities, and the provision of support to TOBB and TESK - national associations of the Turkish chambers - by establishing a network of environmental counsellors in Turkey.

The Environmental Counselling Centre for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises operates sustainable and serves the local industry (see http://www.bcm.org.tr/www.bcm.org.tr).
